We provide compassionate, caring and personalized treatment for your pet in the comfort of your home.

Bay Area Animal Acupuncture is a mobile veterinary acupuncture practice serving the San Francisco Area. Our patients are companion animals, primarily cats and dogs, whose owners want to support their health in non-invasive and holistic ways.

Our goal is to improve the quality of life for animals with various health challenges from allergies to inflammatory issues of all kinds. We were inspired to found this practice when we realized that most animals with such issues, especially where pain is involved, do best in a safe and familiar environment. Bringing treatment directly to them allows them to receive the greatest benefit from acupuncture by reducing overall stress.*

At this point in the growth of Bay Area Animal Acupuncture, we are unable to take on the majority of new clients who seek us out. Rather than sacrifice the quality treatment each patient is entitled to should we be unable to schedule you for a timely appointment, we will happily refer you to a colleague who can discuss your pet's needs.

Acupuncture is a holistic approach to healthcare that has been used for over 3,000 years to treat a variety of conditions. During acupuncture, small needles are inserted into acupuncture points, most of which are near specific nerves. These needles stimulate the nerves and create the release of different neurotransmitters such as endorphins and seratonin which help to modulate body function and balance the energy (Qi) of the body, thereby restoring health and reducing pain. Often, electro-acupuncture is performed to increase the stimulation of acupuncture points, especially in painful conditions.

Most animals tolerate the placement of the needles very well and most often animals relax and frequently sleep during their treatments.

Conditions in animals most responsive to Traditionial Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) are often more chronic problems including:

  • Arthritis/Hip Dysplasia
  • Neck Pain
  • Back Pain
  • Disc Disease
  • Paresis/Paralysis
  • Joint Disease
  • Gastrointestinal Problems such as inflammatory bowel disease
  • Allergies, including hives and feline asthma
  • Nausea
  • Improving overall wellbeing in cancer patients or patients with Chronic Kidney Disease
